Raising Black Student Attainment CPD



Generally, the process of raising attainment is all about improving life chances. In essence, it is this type of rich attainment, particularly for black students that empowers most children and young people to make good progress while also developing the right skills, ambition and knowledge on how they need to make improvements in life chances. This means that each part of a given system of education has a crucial part to play.


The purpose of this course is to look at how the curriculum content of each exam subject can be tailored to result in greater engagement from African & Caribbean students. This is so particularly in subjects such as : English, Mathematics, Science, Leisure & Tourism, History, Psychology, Media Studies, Art, Religious Education, Drama, Food & Nutrition, Music, Astronomy & Classical Civilizations.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this presentation, students should be able to:

  1. Know how their curriculum content of each exam subject is suited in their favor as African and Caribbean students.
  2. Understand the importance of Continued Professional Development for teachers and how it helps tailor the learning process to suit their needs as African and Caribbean students.
